Oh
Great American Indian
Once a proud race
Is now down on their knees.
What broke their iron-clad
will?
The White Man's greed.
Once across the plain's,
Their homes could be seen.
Life was for living,
The peaceful, free and serene.
Once upon a time,
That fateful day came.
Carefree lives were taken,
Life was never the same.
Once the Whiteman came,
Not bothering to see.
The Indians tried to be friends,
But that could never be.
Oh, yes, there were the special
ones,
They seemed to understand.
But they could not change
the mind
Of God's immortal man.
So much blood was spilled,
Freedom taken away.
Oh, Great American Indian,
It should not have ended this
way.
